About this job
Our company is looking for a courier in Bathurst, NB to cover open routes rather than work one fixed route. You'll handle pickups and deliveries by filling in wherever coverage is needed, acting as a floater across at least 15 different routes while also setting a good example for other hourly staff through strong communication and leadership.
What you'll do
- Drive a company vehicle to pick up and deliver packages on routes that change day to day, filling in for couriers who are normally assigned there
- Act as a mentor to other hourly team members, modeling solid communication, conflict resolution and leadership
- Look for chances to support sales and bring in extra revenue where possible
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- About six months of courier experience
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving history
- Able to finish initial and ongoing training, including earning and renewing Dangerous Goods (DG) certification each year; some locations may also require FedEx DG Specialist certification depending on station size, though senior management can adjust this
- Comfortable lifting 70 lbs on your own and moving packages up to 150 lbs with the right equipment
- Familiarity with FedEx services and general operations; knowledge of Canadian Customs rules is a plus
- In Quebec, you must be fluent in both French and English
- Strong people skills for dealing with customers and coworkers, plus good judgment, organization and problem-solving ability
- A valid licence appropriate to the role (for example Class 5, G or Class 1/AZ) with no more than two violations or accidents in the past 24 months; candidates are also reviewed based on their driving record, interview, and any driving assessments given
Good to know
