Our company in Norfolk, VA is looking for an owner-operator (1099) driver to haul containers from the port to customers in Suffolk. You'll run a manual-shift Freightliner Daycab.
Pay
- $800-$1,200 per week

Requirements
- At least 2 years of truck driving experience
- Valid truck driving license
- No recent moving or driving violations
- TWIC Card required, though you'll be given time to get one if you don't have it yet
- Solid understanding of trucking regulations covering size, weight, routes, parking and break periods
- Ability to adjust on the fly to things like traffic and weather
What the job involves
- Moving containers between the port and Suffolk customers on schedule
- Checking your truck for mechanical or safety problems and keeping up with routine maintenance
- Mapping out routes to hit delivery windows
- Keeping accurate logs of driving and rest time, mileage, and hanging onto fuel and toll receipts
- Positioning the truck for loading and unloading
- Confirming delivery details and reporting any accidents, violations or equipment issues
