About this job
Our company needs a Class 5 Commercial Driver in Victoria, BC to run a side or rear load route picking up waste and recyclables from business customers and hauling it to disposal sites.
What you'll do
- Drive a side-load or rear-load commercial collection truck and its hydraulic systems along an assigned commercial route
- Load waste or recyclables into the truck and operate the compactor
- Spot and tag banned items and pull them out of the cart or bin
- Back the truck into tight spots and handle distances of roughly 120 feet or more using mirrors
- Oversee a helper if one is assigned
- Fill out pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports, daily logs and route paperwork
- Flag any mechanical issues to the mechanic and your supervisor right away, and report accidents or incidents immediately
- Follow all safety rules and applicable federal, provincial and local regulations
Requirements
- Class 5 Commercial Driver's License
- At least 1 year of commercial driving experience
- Able to lift up to 10 lbs regularly, up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Comfortable sitting for up to 75% of the shift
