About this job
Our company is hiring an on-call Spare Driver with a Class 3 license to support waste collection operations in Coquitlam, BC. You'll fill in across commercial front-end, roll-off and residential routes, so flexibility and availability are key since there's no fixed schedule or guaranteed hours.
What you'll do
- Drive an Automated Side-Load truck on residential collection routes
- Run pre- and post-trip inspections and keep trip paperwork current
- Pick up household waste and recycling on schedule
- Operate hydraulic and compaction equipment carefully to avoid damage
- Flag any mechanical problems, road hazards or safety concerns to your supervisor
- Keep your route efficient, your truck clean and your service reliable
- Follow all traffic rules, municipal bylaws, safety policy and PPE rules
- Coordinate with helpers and terminal supervisors to keep operations running smoothly
Requirements
- Valid Class 3 license (manual transmission preferred), with a clean driving abstract and CVOR
- At least 1 year of commercial driving experience, or graduation from an accredited truck driving program
- Comfortable handling heavy collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems
- Able to meet safety standards for safety-sensitive work
- Good attendance history and willingness to work early mornings or overtime as needed
