Class 3 Spare Board Driver — $32.33/hr Union Position

WM Canada is hiring a Class 3 Spare Board driver for its Kamloops site. This is a union role with flexible day-shift scheduling across Monday to Saturday, considered full time though hours aren't guaranteed since it's a spare board position.

Pay

• Starting wage of $32.33 per hour

Schedule

• Day shift, with scheduling that flexes based on business needs

• Runs Monday through Saturday

• Considered full-time, but as a spare board role there's no guarantee of 40 hours or a set number of shifts

What you'll do

• Operate heavy-duty trucks fitted with front, side, or rear-end load lifts, depending on the route and equipment assigned

• Handle pickup of waste or recyclable material from commercial, residential, or roll-off routes, which may involve maneuvering containers weighing over 1,000 pounds

• Navigate tight spaces, alleyways, driveways, and busy roads, with precise backing skills required

• Haul loads to disposal, transfer, or recycling sites once the truck reaches capacity

• Carry out pre- and post-trip vehicle checks using the standard DVIR process and report any problems for repair

• Flag unsafe conditions, service issues, accidents, or property damage to your Operations Manager or Dispatch right away

• Keep communication open with Dispatch regarding blocked routes, overweight containers, or customer requests

• Leave each stop clean of debris after emptying containers completely

• Join required training sessions and meetings, and support fellow drivers when needed to keep routes running smoothly

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience driving a vehicle requiring a Class 3 license or higher (or 1 year of equivalent military driving experience within the past 7 years)

• Minimum age of 18

• Legally authorized to work in Canada, with a valid SIN

• Current DZ or Class 3 license (or higher)

• Must pass a pre-employment drug test, physical exam, and background check, including employment history and driving record review

• A clean driving record is required

• High school diploma or GED preferred, though not required
