Class 3/Class 1 Tandem Driver & Equipment Operator — From $28.00/hr

Our company in Langford, BC needs a Road Maintenance Worker who can drive a tandem and run equipment for road and drainage upkeep across several Capital Regional District municipalities. You'll report to the Roads Operations Manager and handle a mix of driving, equipment work and manual labour outdoors.

Pay

• Starts from $28.00 per hour

What you'll do

• Run tandems, hydrovac, backhoe, and a one-ton truck towing a heavy trailer

• Operate a street sweeper, skid-steer and excavator among other machines

• Use hand tools and small equipment such as plate tampers, generators, cut saws, chain saws, shovels and rakes

• Drive company vehicles as needed

• Help with general physical labour tasks

• Fill out time cards and material logs accurately

• Judge load and vehicle stability on haul roads, and stay aware of where people and equipment are positioned in your work zone

• Represent the company professionally and treat the public with courtesy

• Drive defensively and carefully at all times

The work is physically demanding and takes place outdoors in all weather. You need to be able to lift and carry heavy items and perform repetitive tasks throughout the day.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license with a clean abstract

• Class 3 with Airbrakes at minimum; Class 1 drivers preferred

• 6 to 12 months of driving experience

• Comfortable reading, writing and speaking English

• Willing and able to do physical labour daily

• Open to flexible shift scheduling when needed

• Class 1 or Class 3 Commercial Driver's License required; heavy equipment training or experience is a plus
