Class 1 Truck Driver — Up to $38.00/hr, Fort McMurray, AB

Our company in Fort McMurray, AB needs a Class 1 driver to haul lumber and building materials to plant sites and help out in the yard. You'll run manual-transmission trucks, including tractor-trailers and flatbeds, on assigned routes.

Pay

• From $38.00 per hour, up to $38.00 per hour

• Full-time, expected 44 hours per week, 10-hour shifts with possible overtime

What you'll haul

• Lumber and building materials delivered to plant sites

• Freight loaded and unloaded by forklift or by hand, keeping cargo secure and intact

What you'll do

• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and flag any maintenance or safety issues

• Keep accurate delivery, pickup, route and compliance paperwork

• Stay in contact with dispatch and customers to coordinate timing and sort out problems

• Fuel mobile and stationary equipment on site

• Track truck equipment and report mechanical or physical defects

• Keep the truck clean and presentable and secure every load properly

• Take on other duties as needed, and be ready to lift up to 50 pounds

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 license

• Clean 3-year driving abstract, dated within the last 30 days

• 3 to 5 years of hauling experience preferred

• Strong communication skills, both spoken and written

• Comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting

• Good customer service skills and a solid work ethic

• Able to spot and properly document safety hazards

• Forklift experience, load securement skills, safety certifications, knowledge of plant site access, and experience transporting dangerous goods are all considered assets
