About this job
Our company needs a Class 1 driver for its South Division in Medicine Hat, moving equipment and materials to and from the company's own project sites across southern Alberta. You'd be hauling for Weir's own crews and jobsites, not for outside brokers.
About the company
Our company is an Alberta civil and oilfield contractor with operations in Grande Prairie and Medicine Hat, building lease sites, access roads, pipeline right-of-way and earthworks for energy and municipal clients. The company runs its own fleet and shop, so you're driving for work you know is already lined up.
What you'll haul
- Heavy equipment on lowboys and step-decks
- Gravel, pipe and other materials on end-dumps and flat-decks
- Loads you'll need to load, secure and unload per cargo securement standards
What the job involves
- Pre-trip and post-trip inspections, plus staying current on logbook or ELD rules
- Coordinating delivery timing and site access with supervisors and equipment operators
- Tarping, chaining and planning how loads go together
- Flagging any defects and keeping your truck clean
Requirements
- Valid Alberta Class 1 licence with air brake endorsement
- Clean driving history (a three-year commercial abstract will be required if you're offered the job)
- Experience hauling heavy equipment or aggregates, ideally in oilfield or construction work
- Legal right to work in Canada
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen
- Comfortable working long hours during busy seasons
As part of applying, you're agreeing to let the company check publicly available information about you.
Nice to have (not required)
- Safety certifications such as H2S Alive, CSTS/CSO, Standard First Aid or TDG — list any you hold on your resume
- Experience with lowboys or oversize/overweight permits
- Off-road or lease-site driving background
- Some mechanical know-how, since you'll be working near a shop that values it
None of these extras are mandatory — what matters most is a clean record, careful work habits and loads that are chained up right.
This is a full-time, in-person position.
