CDL-B On-Call Relief Driver — $300–$400 per Route

Our company in Hyattsville, MD is building a backup pool of CDL drivers to cover overnight delivery routes when scheduled drivers are out or extra holiday coverage is needed. This is an as-needed relief role, a good fit if you have open availability and want extra income.

Pay

• Training shifts pay $225 each

• Once you're cleared to run routes solo, you'll make $300–$400 per completed route, based on how long it is, how many stops it has, and the overall workload

• No set number of hours or routes is promised each week

• Drivers who show up reliably may be offered a permanent route down the line

What you'll haul

You'll drive a 26-foot refrigerated straight truck with air brakes, delivering prepackaged chicken to stores across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and nearby areas.

What the job involves

• Running overnight routes with several stops

• Hand-trucking cases off the truck at each location

• Checking what you deliver against the paperwork

• Doing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks

• Keeping the load at proper temperature and following food-safety rules

• Bringing the truck back to the Hyattsville yard once the route's done

Requirements

• CDL Class A or Class B, valid and current

• Cleared to drive air-brake vehicles (no restriction on your license)

• Current DOT medical card and a clean enough driving history

• Background running a 26-foot straight truck

• Able to lift and move cases in the 40-70 pound range

• Must pass DOT drug and alcohol testing

• Open to overnight shifts and short-notice call-outs
