- This role is classified as exempt under the Motor Carrier Act.
Schedule
- Shifts can run anywhere from 12 to 14 hours a day, and may fall on days, nights, or weekends.
- You could drive up to 11 hours straight, in any weather conditions.
What you'll haul
- You'll drive a straight truck weighing 26,001 lbs or more (GVWR or GVW), following state rules for intrastate commercial straight trucks.
- Loads may include both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Besides driving, you'll load and unload freight and help generate sales leads while serving customers.
Requirements
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- A Class B CDL is required, with no air brake restriction.
- Your driving record needs to be clean.
- You'll need to pass a DOT drug screen (no past failures or refusals) and a company-paid DOT physical, along with a pre-hire physical abilities test.
- A Federal Medical Certificate is required (or you must be able to get one), along with self-certification as Non-Exempt Interstate.
- Hazmat and tank endorsements are needed within 90 days of starting; having them already is a plus.
- You'll need to read and speak English well enough to talk with customers, understand road signs, respond to official requests, and fill out reports.
Physical demands
- Expect to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally more than 75 lbs.
- The job involves climbing in and out of the truck, long periods of sitting or standing on surfaces that might be uneven or slick, and working outside in all kinds of weather.
- You'll also need to reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, and kneel throughout your shift.
Our company is an equal opportunity employer, and a conditional job offer may come with a required pre-employment drug test.
