CDL-B Local Truck Driver — $29.41–$32.73/hr

Our company is looking for a Class B straight truck driver in Des Plaines, IL. You'll handle local freight runs, including loading, unloading and customer service, on a flexible daily schedule.

Pay

• Hourly rate between $29.41 and $32.73, based on an annual step progression

• Actual rate depends on your experience and skill set

• Classified as Motor Carrier Act Exempt

Schedule

• Shifts can run between 12 and 14 hours a day

• Mix of day, night and weekend work depending on need

• You may drive the truck for up to 11 straight hours in any weather

What you'll do

• Drive a straight truck weighing 26,001 lbs or more (GVWR/GVW), following state rules for intrastate commercial straight trucks

• Load and unload freight, using a forklift and pallet jack as needed

• Interact with customers and help generate sales leads

• Transport both hazardous and non-hazardous materials

Requirements

• At least 21 years old

• Class B CDL with no air brake restriction

• Clean driving history

• Must pass a DOT drug screen, with no past positive results or refusals

• Must pass a company-paid DOT physical and a pre-hire physical abilities test

• Hold, or be able to get, a Federal Medical Certificate, and self-certify as Non-Exempt Interstate

• Hazmat and tank endorsements required within 90 days of starting (having them already is a plus)

• English proficiency needed to read road signs, talk with the public, respond to official requests, and fill out reports, per DOL rules

Physical demands

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and over 75 lbs on occasion

• Comfortable getting in and out of the truck cab

• Able to sit for long stretches while driving or operating a forklift

• Able to stand and walk for long periods on surfaces that may be uneven, slick or outdoors in bad weather

• Able to reach overhead, bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat and kneel
