About this job
Join a yard management company that handles trailer spotting and shunting for major manufacturers and retailers across North America. You'll move trailers within a short radius at a single site, keeping freight flowing between dock doors and the yard.
What you'll do
- Pin-to-pin moves of customer trailers using a dry van, within a 2 mile radius
- Follow load security rules set by the company and DOT
- Fill out all required paperwork for the company, the client and DOT
- Follow company standard procedures
- Check your truck daily before driving
- Stay in touch with dispatch and yard control throughout your shift
- Use the company's in-house software to pick up and log moves as they come in
- Flag any truck repair needs to your regional manager
- Inspect trailers and keep your work area clean
- Take on other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A
- Prior experience is a plus
- Comfortable using computer systems and software
- Able to keep pace in a busy work environment
- Good customer service skills
- Commitment to safe work practices
