About this job
Our company in Erie, PA is looking for a CDL-A Truck Driver to run a tractor-trailer, including doubles and triples, with home time every day.
Pay
- Starting pay is $29.35/hour
- This role is classified as Motor Carrier Act Exempt
Home time
- You'll be home daily
Schedule
- Shifts can run 12-14 hours and may fall on days, nights or weekends, so you need flexible availability
- You may drive up to 11 straight hours while hauling hazardous or non-hazardous materials in any weather
What you'll do
- Operate a tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples configurations, safely on the road
- Handle loading and unloading of freight
- Interact with customers and help identify potential sales opportunities
Requirements
- At least 21 years old
- Valid Class A CDL
- Clean driving history
- Willing to get hazmat, tank vehicle and doubles/triples endorsements within your first 90 days if you don't already have them
- Must pass a DOT drug screen, with no failed tests or refusals in the past 3 years
- Valid DOT medical card, or ability to pass a DOT physical paid for by the company
- Able to read and speak English well enough to talk with the public, understand road signs, answer official questions and fill out reports, per U.S. Department of Labor rules
Forklift experience and existing hazmat, tank and doubles/triples endorsements are a plus but not required.
The job involves physical demands: lifting items (often up to 50 lbs., sometimes over 75 lbs.), maneuvering a converter dolly (roughly 128 lbs. of pull force), climbing in and out of the cab or trailer, long periods sitting or standing on uneven or slick surfaces, working outdoors in all weather, and frequent reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting and kneeling.
