About this job
Our company is hiring brand-new CDL-A drivers for a regional training and solo position based out of Butler, PA, with runs that stay close to home instead of the typical weeks-long OTR first job.
Pay
- Training pays $850 a week
- Once solo, mileage pay starts at $0.56 per mile
- Drivers typically bring home $1,200 to $1,400 a week, running roughly 1,800 miles weekly
- Extra $40 on any load under 100 miles, plus $15 for each additional stop and a performance bonus
- A $1,000 weekly pay guarantee covers your first three months of solo driving
- Orientation (two days or less) pays $300, and bus travel to orientation is reimbursed with a receipt
Home time
Freight moves out of and back into Ohio, so resets happen at home and drivers are rarely away for long.
What you'll haul
Dry van freight — a mix of drop-and-hook, preloaded trailers and live loads — running lanes through Ohio, western Pennsylvania, Indiana and Kentucky, including Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Erie, Louisville and Indianapolis.
Training
New drivers ride with an experienced mentor for 3 to 5 weeks (about 200-250 hours), learning on the same type of freight they'll run solo. Once the mentor signs off, you get your own dedicated truck and planner.
Equipment
- Late-model tractors, averaging about 1.5 years old
- Both automatic and 10-speed manual transmissions
- Approved pets up to 40 pounds allowed once training is complete
- Adult riders welcome for solo drivers
Requirements
- Class A CDL, must be 21 or older
- Graduated from a CDL-A program of at least 120 hours
- No more than 2 moving violations in the past 2 years
- No DUI or DWI within the last 10 years
- Must pass a DOT physical and a hair and urine drug screen
Benefits
After 30 days: medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k), an employee stock purchase plan, life and disability insurance, and a tuition-free online degree program for you and one dependent.
