About this job
Our company needs a reliable CDL-A driver to haul refrigerated food from processing plants to their distribution facility in Hyattsville, MD. You'll be home every day, with steady routes and the chance to earn overtime.
Pay
- $35.00 - $37.00 per hour
- Expect 35.0 to 40.0 hours per week, with overtime available when it applies
Home time
- Daily home time, no overnights required
What you'll haul
- Refrigerated food products picked up from designated processing plants and delivered to the company's distribution facility on schedule
What the job involves
- Running pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the tractor, trailer, reefer unit, seals and load
- Keeping accurate ELD logs and staying compliant with hours-of-service rules
- Checking and logging reefer trailer temperatures throughout the trip
- Filling out bills of lading and other paperwork as needed
- Flagging any issues with equipment, safety, temperature or deliveries right away
- Keeping your cab clean and taking care of the equipment you're assigned
- Following DOT, FMCSA, food-safety and company guidelines
- Communicating professionally with plant staff, warehouse crews and management
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- Current DOT medical card
- Clean enough driving record to meet company standards
- Able to pass DOT drug and alcohol screening
- Meets FMCSA qualification standards for drivers
- Prior experience driving a tractor-trailer
- Comfortable with ELDs and hours-of-service rules
- Shows up reliably and communicates professionally
- Experience hauling refrigerated freight is a plus, though not required
