About this job
Our company is hiring a Road Driver to haul trailers between service centers using tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable.
Pay
- Linehaul work pays $0.7377 per mile.
- Non-linehaul work pays $32.20 per hour.
What you'll haul
- Move trailers and converter dollies between our company service centers and designated turn-points.
- Handle freight that may be placarded under DOT hazardous materials rules.
- In select states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT), you may run long combination vehicles such as triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles or Turnpike Doubles.
What you'll do
- Inspect your equipment before and during each run.
- Connect and disconnect trailers and dollies, which takes repeated lifting force of roughly 100 pounds.
- Keep accurate logs and paperwork, and stay in contact with dispatch about delays or issues.
- Occasionally cover city driving or dock tasks, load/unload freight, or chain tires in winter conditions.
- Expect driving day and night in varying weather, with occasional overnight stays.
Requirements
- Class A CDL with doubles/triples and tanker endorsements; a hazmat endorsement is needed within 120 days of your start.
- Automatic transmission restriction is acceptable.
- At least 1 year of driving experience in the last 3 years, or completion of FedEx's own Driver Development Course.
- A clean enough driving record to meet company and DOT hiring standards.
- Comfortable working independently or on a team, following instructions, and completing required training.
