CDL-A OTR Truck Driver

OIC, Inc. is looking for a reliable CDL-A driver to run OTR freight for its VABS Trucking team out of Rocky Mount, NC. You'll haul loads to assigned destinations, with overnight and occasional multi-day trips depending on business needs.

Home time

Expect overnight travel as a regular part of the job, with trips that can stretch to multiple days. Routes cover destinations within North Carolina as well as locations beyond the immediate area. Schedules shift based on operational needs, so you should be open to occasional weekend, early morning, evening, or holiday work.

What you'll haul

You'll be responsible for getting freight to its destination safely and on time, which includes loading, unloading, and properly securing cargo when needed.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL

• Current DOT medical card, or the ability to get one

• Clean driving record that passes an MVR check

• Able to pass a background check plus pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screening

• Solid understanding of DOT/FMCSA rules and safe driving practices

• Dependable attendance and work history

• Good communication skills for working with dispatch, customers, and coworkers

• Comfortable following both written and spoken directions

• Commercial driving experience is preferred, especially OTR or regional work; two or more years in a Class A seat and familiarity with ELDs are a plus

Day to day, you'll handle pre-trip and post-trip inspections, keep accurate logs and delivery paperwork, use an ELD, and flag any mechanical issues, accidents, or delays right away. The role also involves physical tasks like getting in and out of the cab repeatedly, sitting for long stretches while driving, and lifting, pushing, or pulling freight as part of loading and unloading.
