What you'll do

  • Operate a commercial tractor-trailer safely over long distances, following assigned routes and schedules
  • Keep cargo secure and properly documented from pickup to delivery
  • Run pre- and post-trip inspections, checking tires, fluids and general mechanical condition, and report issues right away
  • Stay current with mileage, fuel, and hours-of-service logs through your ELD
  • Keep the truck clean inside and out
  • Communicate delivery status, timing, and any problems to dispatch and customers
  • Follow DOT rules, hours-of-service limits, and all traffic and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Class A CDL
  • At least 21 years old
  • One year of OTR driving experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • No more than two moving violations in the past three years
  • Able to pass a DOT physical and meet DOT health standards
  • Comfortable with manual or automatic transmissions
  • Experience using ELD software; basic computer skills preferred (Microsoft Office a plus)
  • Hazmat experience is a plus, though not required for this freight
  • Willing to work irregular hours, including some weekends and holidays, and occasionally cover for other drivers
  • Strong communication skills for working with dispatch, customers, and other drivers
