About this job
Drive a dedicated local route hauling retail freight for Target out of the Chicago area. You'll be home every day, running mostly drop-and-hook loads in an automatic transmission truck.
Pay
- Approximately $79,976 per year
- Average weekly pay of $1,550
- Paid per mile (CPM)
- Bonus opportunities available
- Paid for pallet-jack unloading when required
Routes and freight
- Local Chicago-area routes, home every day
- Longest round trip runs about 91 miles
- At least two loads required per day
- About 95% of freight is drop-and-hook
- About 5% of stops require pallet-jack unloading
- 53-foot trailers on a dedicated retail account
Schedule
- Six days on, followed by a 34-hour reset
- Set days off may become available down the road
- Night driving is part of the job
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- At least 3 months of tractor-trailer driving experience
- Clean driving record
- Current DOT Medical card
- Dependable transportation to get to work daily
- Able to handle a six-day week and overnight hours
- Able to do occasional pallet-jack unloading
- SAP drivers will not be considered
