CDL-A Local Driver / Forklift Operator — Union Scale Pay with Overtime

Our company in Sarasota, FL is looking for a full-time CDL-A local driver who can also run a forklift. You will pick up and deliver freight close to the distribution center and help out on the dock, loading and unloading trailers much like a dock worker would.

What you'll do

• Pick up and deliver cargo near the consolidation/distribution center

• Load and unload trailers, including building and breaking down loads while staying within weight distribution rules

• Run a forklift when needed

• Handle check-in, inspect your tractor and trailer, set up the tractor, and fill out paperwork and loading sheets accurately

• Take on other duties as assigned

• Note that daily tasks and schedules can differ by terminal

Schedule

Hours depend on the service center and may fall on any day of the week, including nights and weekends. You'll need to be available for whatever shift pattern applies at this location.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED

• At least 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience (those with less experience may qualify for training)

• Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker, and hazmat endorsements, and no automatic-transmission restriction

• At least 21 years old

• Solid, steady work history

• Clean driving record, verified through your MVR and past employers

• Able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug test and meet DOT medical standards

Pay

This is an hourly role paid weekly, at Teamster Union scale, which runs higher than many other carriers pay. You'll also earn overtime after 8 hours worked in a day.
