CDL-A Local Driver/Forklift Operator — $30.40/hr, Union Benefits

Our company in Elgin, IL needs a local CDL-A driver who can also run a forklift. You'll pick up and deliver freight near the service center and help load and unload trailers using dock-worker methods and equipment.

What you'll do

• Handle pickup and delivery runs close to the consolidation/distribution center

• Load and unload trailers, building and breaking down loads while following weight distribution rules

• Run a forklift when needed

• Do check-ins, inspect your tractor/trailer, set up the tractor, and complete required paperwork and loading logs

• Take on other tasks as assigned; exact duties and schedule depend on the terminal

Schedule

Hours and days worked depend on the service center and can include days, nights and weekends. You need to be available for whatever schedule this location requires. Travel is minimal, around 0-25%.

Pay

This is an hourly role paid weekly, at Teamster Union Scale, which runs higher than most other carriers pay. You get overtime after 8 hours in a day. Under the Illinois Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, this position pays $30.40 an hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED

• At least 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience (drivers with less experience may qualify for training)

• Class A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker and hazmat endorsements, and no automatic transmission restriction

• At least 21 years old

• Solid, stable work history

• Clean driving record, checked through your MVR and past employers

• Able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug test and meet DOT medical standards
