CDL-A Live Haul Driver — $32.25/hr Plus Bonus

Our company needs a CDL-A tractor-trailer driver to haul live chickens from local farms to the processing plant in Accomac, VA. You'll keep the supply chain moving while following strict safety and animal welfare standards.

Pay

• Piece rate position, guaranteed at $32.25 per hour under minimum wage law

• Variable annual bonus based on performance

• Overtime may be available

What you'll haul

• Live chickens, moved from poultry farms to the plant in a tractor trailer

• 1 to 4 trips per day or night, with stretches of 30 minutes up to 4 hours between stops

What the job involves

• Pre-trip and post-trip truck and trailer inspections, with DOT paperwork completed after each run

• Covering loads in winter weather, assisting when temperatures drop below 30 degrees

• Crossing the scale both loaded and empty, fueling up before weighing in on the return trip

• Securing empty modulars before leaving the plant and full modulars before heading back

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED

• 2 years of tractor-trailer driving experience

• Class A CDL

• Comfortable working outdoors and around poultry houses in all weather, dust, odor, noise, and uneven or muddy ground

• Able to sit for long stretches, climb, bend, walk on uneven surfaces, and lift 50 lbs regularly

• Willing to follow all safety, animal welfare, and biosecurity rules while driving
