CDL-A Fleet Driver — Home Daily, $23.80–$40.50/hr

CarMax is looking for a CDL-A driver to move vehicles between CarMax stores and approved vendors in Newport News, VA. You'll run routes designed to get you home every day while keeping inventory moving on schedule.

Pay

• $23.80 to $40.50 per hour

Home time

• Routes are built so you're home daily, with a consistent schedule

What you'll haul

• CarMax vehicles, transported using a company hauler and company-provided truck between CarMax locations and approved vendors

What you'll do

• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections that meet DOT and CarMax requirements

• Keep accurate, compliant DOT logs and paperwork

• Load, secure and unload vehicles, including manual freight handling, climbing ladders and working outside in all weather

• Block, chain, strap and tension vehicles to meet FMCSA and CarMax load securement rules

• Keep your truck clean, maintained and ready to run

• Deal professionally with vendors, store staff and the public

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL

• At least 2 years of Class A CDL driving experience (military heavy/medium tactical vehicle experience counts)

• 21 or older with a valid state driver's license

• Clean driving record, no serious violations in the last 3 years, and must pass CarMax's Driver Safety Evaluation

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and to pull, torque and tension chains, binders and straps

• Able to climb, bend and kneel to secure vehicles on multi-level transport decks

• Meets DOT and FMCSA qualification standards

• Comfortable working outdoors in noise and rough weather

• Good communication and teamwork, following CarMax safety policies
