About this job
Our company is hiring a CDL-A driver in Waverly, VA to haul feed to farms, mostly at night. You'll go through a company training program before working a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays.
Pay
- After completing training, feed delivery drivers average $75,000 per year.
What you'll haul
- You'll deliver feed to farms, hooking and unhooking trailers, and loading and unloading with care for animal welfare.
- You'll handle a manual transmission tractor and open/close trailer gates and doors as part of each run.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL.
- At least 1 year of commercial driving experience.
- Minimum age 21.
- Clean driving record.
- Able to get a DOT medical card once hired.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Able to lift 50 pounds and handle physical tasks like climbing into the engine area, bending, crawling during pre-trip checks, and getting in and out of the cab in tight spots such as fuel islands.
- Willing to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must complete the company's driver training program.
On the job
- Follow safety procedures for driving, feed delivery, and loading/unloading, keeping animal welfare a top priority.
- Stay compliant with DOT rules at all times.
- Report any accidents right away through the proper channels.
- Follow the rules of whichever facility is receiving the delivery.
- Know and follow Smithfield's emergency notification process.
