About this job
Our company in Chicagoland needs an experienced CDL-A dump truck driver for local hauling. You'll run routes throughout the Chicago metro area and be home every night, with most weekends free.
What you'll haul
- Construction materials, aggregates, dirt, debris and other approved loads
- Moves between construction sites, quarries, suppliers and disposal facilities around the Chicago area
Schedule and home time
- Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays when project demand requires it
- No overnight trips or long-distance runs, this is a local-only position
- Most weekends off
Pay
- $1,400.00 to $1,800.00 per week
- Final pay setup (weekly salary or a percentage per completed load) gets worked out with you in the interview, based on your experience and the job
What you'll do
- Drive a manual-transmission Class A dump truck safely, following DOT and FMCSA rules
- Run daily hauling assignments on time
- Do full pre-trip and post-trip checks on tires, brakes, lights, fluids and other components
- Flag any mechanical issues or damage right away
- Secure loads properly and stay within weight limits
- Keep load tickets, delivery receipts and inspection paperwork accurate
- Stay in touch with dispatchers and site supervisors about schedules and assignments
- Follow site safety rules and keep your truck clean and road-ready
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- Clean driving record
- At least 5 years driving manual-transmission commercial trucks
- Comfortable and capable operating a manual heavy-duty truck
- Willing to pass a background check (people with a criminal record are welcome to apply)
- Dump truck or construction hauling background is a strong plus
- Knowing Chicagoland roads and hauling routes helps
- Familiarity with DOT rules, inspections and truck safety procedures
- Comfortable working around busy construction sites
- Reliable, punctual and a safe driving history
- Open to working Saturdays occasionally when projects call for it
