CDL-A Delivery Driver Trainee

Sysco is bringing on Delivery Truck Driver Trainees who don't yet hold a Class-A CDL. You'll train on the job, earn your CDL, and move into a route delivering products to regular customers while learning their needs along the way.

What you'll do

• Unload freight by hand or hand cart and place it where customers want it stored

• Carry goods down ramps, stairs or docks in any weather

• Bend and twist regularly while loading, unloading and pulling items from the trailer

• Confirm deliveries with customers, collect signatures, and flag any invoice mismatches, errors or returns to your manager

• Handle pre-trip and post-trip checks per DOT rules and Sysco procedures

• Pick up damaged or returned goods and fill out the required paperwork

• Keep DOT logs and vehicle maintenance reports current, reviewing them with your company contact

• Stay on schedule for your route's delivery windows and let management know right away if you fall behind

Requirements

• Age 21 or older

• Valid driver's license with a record that meets the company's insurance standards

• Must pass pre-employment screening

• Must earn a Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of starting, or employment ends

• At least one year of warehouse or distribution experience, or equivalent military experience

• Veterans may obtain their CDL permit and DOT medical certificate through the SkillBridge program if eligible; veterans are welcome to apply

• Clear communication and solid basic math skills, with a positive, can-do attitude

Physical demands

Expect to lift, push or move loads up to 100 pounds regularly, and reach as high as 72 inches to stack or unstack pallets.

Schedule

You'll need flexible availability, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying start and end times to keep up with customer demand.
