CDL-A City Truck Driver — $31.26/hr Starting

Our company needs a CDL-A city driver in West Fargo, ND to move freight between the service center and customer locations, handling the loading, securing and delivery of shipments along the way.

Pay

• Starting rate is $31.26 per hour.

What you'll do

• Run tractor-trailer combinations, which may include doubles, triples (where used) or straight trucks.

• Complete pre-trip inspections and routine safety checks on your equipment.

• Connect and disconnect trailers and converter dollies.

• Load and unload freight with a forklift, pallet jack or hand truck, and secure loads with pallets, straps or rope.

• Fix or repackage damaged freight as needed.

• Keep required paperwork and reports up to date, and follow hazmat rules and procedures.

• Collect payment for freight charges when required and document it properly.

• Stay in contact with dispatch about delays, arrivals or equipment issues.

• Talk with customers about pickup and delivery needs, provide good service, and pass along leads for new business.

• Chain tires when conditions call for it, and fill in on dock or road driver duties if operationally needed.

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your offer; you can't drive without it). Automatic transmission restriction is fine.

• One year of driving experience in the last three years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course.

• A driving record that meets hiring standards, and compliance with DOT/FMCSA Part 391 requirements.

• If driving long combination vehicles (triples, Rocky Mountain doubles, turnpike doubles) in states where they're used, including ND, you must meet the LCV qualification and certification standards.

• Basic math skills, and solid written and verbal communication.

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week, sit for long stretches, and bend, twist, squat and climb in and out of the truck.

• Able to follow instructions, complete training, and work both independently and as part of a team.

Working conditions

• You'll drive in all kinds of weather and road conditions, with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and DOT-regulated hazardous materials.

• Hours can shift based on operational needs.
