CDL-A City Driver Apprentice — $28.48–$33.93/hr

Our company in Gypsum, CO is hiring an apprentice city driver. You build your skills toward running a tractor-trailer combination while also doing dock and forklift work.

Pay

• Posted range is $28.48 to $33.93 per hour, with a starting rate of $30.20 per hour.

• Where you land in the range depends on experience, tenure, market, schedule and assignment.

What you'll do

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks.

• Inspect your equipment before, after and between trips.

• Couple and uncouple trailers and converter dollies.

• Load, secure and handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks.

• Fix or recover damaged freight, fill out paperwork and collect payment checks.

• Follow hazmat rules and check placards on hazmat shipments when required.

• Stay in touch with dispatch and customers about pick-ups, deliveries and delays.

• Put on tire chains when conditions call for it.

Requirements

• A Class A CDL or a commercial learning permit before you start in the role.

• A motor vehicle record that meets hiring standards, plus DOT qualification under FMCSA section 391.

• Basic math and communication skills.

• Able to lift about 100 pounds of force when hooking trailers and to carry hand freight up to 100 pounds.

• Willing to finish required training and work alone or on a team.

Working conditions

• Driving day and night in all weather, with noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and exposure to hazardous materials.
