CDL-A/B Part-Time Vehicle Transporter — Flexible, Up to 25 Hrs/Week

Penske is looking for a part-time Hiker to move vehicles between Penske locations and customer sites in West Valley City, UT. You'll mainly drive box trucks up to 26 feet, and if you hold a Class A CDL you may also move tractors and trailers. This is a casual, on-call role that works well as extra income alongside other work.

Pay

• Class A: $18

• Class B: $17

• Class C: $16

Schedule

• Casual, on-call, part time, with hours ranging from 0 to 25 per week depending on business needs

• Morning shifts, up to 30 hours per week

What you'll do

• Drive trucks safely to Penske locations or customer sites, following proper safety steps

• Inspect vehicles for mechanical, safety and emergency equipment issues and flag anything found to your location manager

• Collect signatures, receipts or payment when a delivery calls for it

• Report any accidents, traffic violations, defects or damage involving the vehicle

• Take on other tasks assigned by your supervisor, which may include helping the service department deliver parts and equipment

Requirements

• At least 2 years of driving experience

• A clean driving record (DMV) for the past 2 years

• A valid Class B CDL, with residency and licensing in your U.S. state of residence; a Class A CDL is a plus

• Comfortable reading and following written instructions

• Able to work independently, with good customer service and organizational skills and a positive attitude

• English language proficiency, as required under federal regulation 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)

• Reliable, consistent attendance

• Willingness to maintain a current DOT driver qualification file, including a yearly MVR check, a passed DOT physical, and safety history checks from past employers covering the last 3 years; CDL holders must also complete a DOT drug screening within 30 days of starting and are subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse checks

• Willingness to travel as needed, work the assigned schedule and location, complete a Penske application, and pass a background check and drug screening

• Able to stay alert and work safely at all times, given this role is DOT-regulated and safety-sensitive

• Physically able to see and hear clearly (including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment), move around, stand, walk, sit, use your hands and arms, lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg regularly and up to 100 lbs/45 kg occasionally, and safely get in and out of the vehicle and its rear cargo area
