About this job
Our company is hiring AZ/DZ licensed drivers for its Ottawa location. You would run a mix of industrial and environmental service trucks for customers across industrial, commercial, municipal and residential sectors.
What you'll drive
- Combination units, power vacuum units and hydro excavation units
- Box trucks and roll-off bin units
- High-pressure water blasters
- Tractor-trailers, for AZ/DZ drivers
Schedule
- Day shift Monday to Friday
- On call every 4th weekend
- Both automatic and manual transmission units are available; manual experience is preferred
- Extended hours and variable shifts are part of the job
What you'll do
- Inspect your truck and load before, during and after each trip, and report any defects, accidents or violations
- Secure and handle cargo, load and unload, and guide the truck into position using signals from the loading crew
- Keep hours-of-service logs, service records, bills of lading and manifests, on paper or electronically
- Follow the rules on safe operation, dangerous goods, customs and weights and dimensions
- Deliver product and paperwork to customers on time and politely, and give your supervisor feedback on customer, mechanical or delivery issues
Requirements
- AZ or DZ licence with a clean driver's abstract and CVOR abstract
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights
- Mechanical knowledge
- Valid work authorization in Canada; GFL does not sponsor visas
