About this job
Our company, a family-run grower and distributor since 1948, needs an AZ driver to join its logistics team handling direct-store and direct-to-DC runs across the USA, Southern Ontario, the GTA and Quebec. You'll haul temperature-controlled live plant freight to retail and big-box customers.
Pay
- From $34.26 per hour
What you'll haul
- Live plants requiring cold storage, delivered to supermarkets and big box retailers
Routes
- Cross-border and cross-provincial runs covering the USA, Southern Ontario, the GTA and Quebec
What you'll do
- Move freight safely between pickup and delivery points
- Keep records of stops, rest breaks, mileage, tolls and fuel use
- Check the truck before, during and after each trip, including the cold storage unit
- Plan efficient delivery routes
- Keep the truck in safe, roadworthy condition and flag mechanical problems
- Stay in touch with dispatch on progress and delays
- Carry required paperwork and get the Bill of Lading signed as proof of delivery
- Clock your hours daily
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Completion of a recognized driver training program (up to 3 months)
- Class 1/A licence for long combination vehicles
- Air brake (Z) endorsement
- At least 3 years of commercial driving experience
