About this job
Our company Inc., a landscape construction company with over 10 years of projects across Ontario, needs an experienced AZ driver based in Caledon. You will move construction equipment, trees, plants and landscape materials between the yard, suppliers, nurseries and active job sites. This is a daily, hands-on construction role, not long-haul or general freight.
Pay
- $35.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Performance-based bonuses
- Full-time, consistent work
What you'll do
- Haul machinery, trees, shrubs, nursery stock, aggregates and landscape supplies to and from sites
- Drive AZ trucks pulling float, flatbed, tag and other construction trailers
- Load and unload excavators, skid steers, loaders and compactors on your own, and tie them down with chains, binders and straps
- Collect materials from suppliers and deliver them straight to the site
- Handle trucks and trailers in tight yards and busy jobsites
- Do pre-trip and post-trip inspections, keep logs and delivery paperwork, and keep the vehicles clean and in safe condition
- Plan daily pickups and drop-offs with management and site supervisors
Requirements
- Valid Ontario AZ licence and a clean driver's abstract
- At least 3 years of professional AZ driving
- Proven float or flatbed experience hauling construction equipment
- Able to load, secure and unload heavy machinery independently
- Solid knowledge of load securement and Ontario transportation and safety rules
- Dependable, punctual, able to work independently and physically fit for the work
- General AZ experience alone is not enough; long-haul, cross-border, dry van, reefer, container or general freight backgrounds without equipment hauling will not qualify
Nice to have
- Background in landscape construction, excavation, paving or site development
- Experience moving trees and nursery stock
- Experience operating excavators, skid steers or loaders
- Lowboy, RGN, Landoll or other specialized trailers, or oversized loads
Benefits
- Extended health care, dental and vision
- Company-provided trucks and trailers
- Established employer with ongoing construction projects
