About this job
Our company in Nanaimo, BC is looking for a dependable driver to run a 5-ton truck on set routes, moving freight safely and on time while supporting the rest of the logistics team.
What you'll do
- Drive a 5-ton truck to various delivery points, following traffic laws and safety rules
- Load and unload cargo, using a forklift or other equipment when needed, and make sure it's properly secured
- Check the truck before and after each trip, covering brakes, tires, lights and fluid levels
- Keep delivery paperwork up to date, including manifests, logs and inspection reports
- Stay in contact with dispatch and warehouse staff to line up pickups and drop-offs
- Handle minor mechanical troubleshooting or basic repairs to keep the truck road-ready
- Follow safety procedures at every stage to avoid accidents or damage
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's license with a clean record
- Hands-on experience driving 5-ton trucks or similar heavy vehicles
- Familiarity with freight handling and safety practices for heavy equipment
- Comfortable operating a forklift or similar loading machinery (certification a plus)
- Able to handle basic mechanical troubleshooting
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions closely
- Physically able to lift heavy loads and manage the physical demands of freight work
