About this job
This role moves household belongings over long-distance routes for customers, using commercial trucks and tractor-trailers. You'll plan your own road trips, keep cargo safe, and handle pickups and drop-offs with care.
Pay
- $15,000 to $18,000 per month
What you'll haul
- Household goods and personal belongings
- Occasional refrigerated trailer assignments
- Experience with auto transport, flatbed, tanker, dump truck or roll-off equipment is a plus
Responsibilities
- Operate trucks on long-haul routes using GPS for planning and navigation
- Load, strap down, and unload customers' items without damage
- Check trucks and trailers before trips and flag any mechanical or safety issues
- Follow FMCSA and DOT rules, including any hazmat requirements that apply
Requirements
- Proper commercial driving credentials for the vehicle you'll operate
- Comfortable with physical lifting and freight handling
- Solid safe-driving habits and route-planning ability
- Prior moving, delivery or route-driving experience helps
