About this job
Our company, a family-owned carrier based in Rapid City, SD, is looking for full-time OTR CDL-A drivers. You'll haul doors from Lynden, Washington out to the Midwest and beyond, then bring freight back to the Northwest in 53ft dry vans.
Routes and home time
- Outbound lanes reach MI, IL, MN, NE, CA, WI and KY, with return loads from OH and MO delivered back to the Pacific Northwest.
- Expect to be out 11-15 days, then home for 2-3 days every other week. If you want more time on the road, longer stretches are available.
What you'll haul
- Freight is 99% no-touch.
- You'll run newer Peterbilt, Freightliner and Mack tractors with 53ft dry vans.
Pay
- Pay is hourly, so sitting in traffic or construction delays won't cost you money, and you're not pushed to drive faster than is safe.
- Annual earnings run $68,000-$80,000, based on working 50-55 hours per week.
- You're paid for loading, unloading and time stuck in traffic, not just driving time.
- Experienced drivers start at a base wage up to 15% higher than new drivers.
- Work is steady year-round.
Bonuses
- A quarterly performance bonus of up to $400, covering safety, idle time, logbook accuracy and incident-free driving. You become eligible starting your first full quarter after the 90-day probation period.
- An annual Gold Star Bonus of $400, based on your quarterly bonus record, available after one full year on the job.
Requirements
- Clean driving record required.
- You need to be physically able to chain up, lift the truck hood and get in and out of the cab frequently.
- OTR and mountain driving experience is a plus, but not required.
- You must pass a DOT drug and alcohol test as required by law.
- Strong customer service skills are expected, since you'll represent the company to the public.
Benefits
- Medical, dental and vision insurance plans.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company contributions, available after one full year of employment.
