Local CDL-A Reefer Driver — $25–$28.50/hr, Home Daily

This local reefer route runs dedicated store deliveries for Target around Sacramento and the Bay Area, with drivers home every day. Starting pay is hourly and climbs with experience, and many drivers see strong weekly totals once they're established.

Pay

• Hourly rate: $25.00 - $28.50 an hour, rising from $25/hr for newcomers to $26/hr after a year and up to $28.50/hr at the 10-year mark

• Typical weekly earnings run around $1,500, which works out to roughly $78,000 a year

• Some drivers bring in $2,000 or more in a week depending on their routes

Home time

• You're back home every day

• Days off fall during the week rather than on weekends

• Expect very early starts, generally between midnight and 3 AM

• Holiday shifts are required and weekend routes sometimes come up

What you'll haul

• Refrigerated trailers loaded with store merchandise

• Trailers are preloaded for you to pick up, deliver to retail locations, then bring back to Sacramento

• You'll handle live unloads and help unload at stores

• Trucks are slip-seated, though the company tries to keep you in the same one each week

• Routes are typically shared with you a day ahead

Requirements

• Current Class A CDL

• At least one year behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer

• A clean record and valid DOT medical card

• SAP drivers are not eligible

• Ability to handle early starts, live unloads, and holiday work

• Your own transportation to get to the yard, since trucks stay on site
