Local CDL-A Hazmat/Tanker Backup Driver — From $31/hr

Our company needs a versatile employee in Overland Park, KS who splits time between filling gas cylinders in the plant and covering local delivery routes as a backup Class A driver. Most of the week is spent on production work, with driving duties picked up when the regular driver is out or volume is high. You'd be home most days under this schedule.

Pay

• Starts at $31 per hour, with the exact rate set by your experience

What you'll haul

• About 80% of the job is plant work: filling industrial, medical, and mixed gas cylinders under precise pressure and temperature controls

• The remaining 20% covers relief driving: hauling compressed gas cylinders, liquid cylinders, bulk liquids, and hard goods to branches and customers in a Class A truck

• On deliveries, you'll swap cylinders, check customer gas levels, and handle any service questions on site

• You'll also track shipments and logs using onboard computer systems

Requirements

• Current Class A CDL and medical card, in good standing

• At least 1 year of verifiable Class A driving experience in the last 5 years

• Tanker, Hazmat, and Airbrake endorsements (or eligibility to get your Hazmat endorsement after an offer)

• Clean driving record

• Physically able to lift 25-75 lbs regularly, and up to 125+ lbs with equipment assistance

• Comfortable bending, climbing, and working in cylinder-handling and truck-coupling tasks

• Able to work outside in temperatures from -10F to 110F

• Experience with tanker-tractor combinations, cryogenic or compressed gas handling, and customer service work is a plus
