About this job
Our company is looking for a CDL-A Driver Trainee in Shreveport, LA to learn the ropes of local food and beverage delivery. You'll run multiple-stop routes close to home, with the goal of moving into a full Driver DOT role once training is complete.
Home time
- This is a local route, and you'll be home daily.
What you'll do
- Run assigned routes with several stops of varying complexity, keeping each delivery within its scheduled time window.
- Check customer invoices to pull, organize and deliver the correct orders without damage.
- Keep your truck in safe working order by checking fluids, tires, lights and brakes, and flag any mechanical issues right away.
- Keep required paperwork current, including vehicle logs and cargo billing records, and notify dispatch of any delays, accidents or other issues on the road.
- Follow all traffic laws and company transportation procedures.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL.
- High school diploma or GED, plus at least a year of related experience or training (or an equivalent mix of both).
- Comfortable reading safety and operating manuals, writing basic reports, and handling simple math (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
- Strong customer service sense and the ability to juggle multiple stops and tasks while using equipment and time wisely.
- Able to repeatedly lift over 50 lbs and occasionally over 100 lbs, work outdoors in any weather, walk and stand for extended periods, and bend, stoop or squat to move heavy items safely.
Note: the company uses AI-equipped dash cameras to monitor safe driving habits, document safety incidents, and help clear drivers in the event of an accident. You'll sign a consent form for this when you're hired.
