Local CDL-A Delivery Driver — $32–$35/hr

Our company, a family-owned Bay Area foodservice company, is looking for a Class A driver to handle local delivery routes out of San Jose, CA. You'll run a company truck to drop off orders at local businesses, working closely with dispatch and customers along the way.

Pay

• $32.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule

• Monday through Friday

• Start times vary day to day, somewhere between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM, and can shift based on operational needs

What you'll do

• Load and unload freight from the truck

• Confirm order accuracy with customers, scan items and get invoices signed once delivered

• Stick to your assigned route and timetable, making sure stops are completed at the right address and on time

• Complete return paperwork promptly and turn it in at Driver Check In

• Keep dispatch, routing and your manager informed of any delays, incidents, injuries or truck/route problems

• Build good working relationships with customers through clear communication

• Follow DOT rules, safety procedures and company timekeeping policies

• Place deliveries where customers want them and confirm each one is received before you leave

Requirements

• Valid California Class A license

• Commercial driving experience is a plus but not required

• Clean driving record, with a current 5-year DMV record available for submission

• Must register with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse before being hired

• Must pass a drug screen as a condition of employment

• Background check required

• Sufficient English proficiency to meet FMCSA standards

• Minimum age 21

• Strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and good listening and communication abilities

Physical demands

• Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs

• Comfortable using a lift gate, hand truck/dolly, scanner and navigation tools

• Able to bend, reach, stoop, squat, twist, push, pull, kneel, stand and walk throughout the shift

Working conditions

• Direct customer contact from warehouse to front door

• This is a safety-sensitive role subject to random, post-accident and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing

• Must be able to drive safely in rough weather
