Home time
You're off every two weeks. Some weekends will be spent on the road, and holiday runs are voluntary, not required.
What you'll haul
This is dry van freight, running 1,800 to 2,900 miles a week east of Denver (no Northeast runs). Freight is a mix of drop-and-hook, preloaded trailers and live loads.
Getting started
A recruiter reviews your license and driving record with you by phone before anything else. Orientation runs up to two days, with your hotel covered and bus fare reimbursed. From there you'll spend 1 to 5 weeks (200-250 hours) training on the road with an experienced driver, covering backing, trip planning, log books and fueling. After training, you'll be assigned your own tractor, typically around 1.5 years old, in either automatic or 10-speed.
Requirements
- 21 years old or older with a valid Class A CDL
- Either a recent grad of CDL school or at least 6 months of recent driving experience
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years
- No DUI or DWI convictions in the last 10 years
- Must pass a DOT physical along with hair and urine drug testing
Benefits
After your first 30 days, you're eligible for medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage, a 401(k), a stock purchase plan and an employee assistance program. There's also a free online degree program available to you and one dependent. Riders can ride along, and small dogs are permitted once you're past training.
The hiring carrier's name is shared with you once you apply through the DriverRoll app, where you can message them directly.
