Class 5 Donation Pickup Truck Driver — $19/hr + $750 Signing Bonus

Our company is looking for a part-time driver in Dartmouth, NS to collect donated clothing and household items from homes and donation bins, then deliver them to partner organizations and storage sites. You'll get a $750 signing bonus for joining.

Pay

• $19 per hour

• Monthly bonus available through the Top Drivers program

• $750 bonus for signing on

Schedule

• Part time, up to 29 hours a week

• Your schedule will be set together with the operations team based on business needs

What you'll do

• Drive set routes to pick up donated goods from customers' homes and collection bins

• Drop off collected items at corporate partner locations and storage facilities

• Carry out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks

• Fill out daily paperwork, including Hours-of-Service logs

• Keep your license, registration, safety documents and inspection records with you on the road

• Check in with dispatch at the start, middle and end of each route, and flag any route issues

• Leave a donor card at each pickup and log completed stops accurately

• Unload goods as directed and return all gear to the office at day's end

• Keep the truck cab limited to authorized passengers only

• Represent the organization professionally and handle customer interactions, including difficult ones, calmly and courteously

• Take part in required driver training and safety programs

Requirements

• High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent experience

• Comfortable reading maps and planning efficient pickup routes

• Able to lift and handle loads of 10 to 50 lbs

• Able to drive a 3-ton (16 foot) straight truck

• Strong communication and customer service skills, including staying composed under stress

• Good written and verbal English

• Full Class 5 and/or G license or higher (passenger car or light truck)

• At least 5 years of driving experience at that license level, or 2 years with professional commercial driver training

• Clean driver's abstract (less than 21 days old) with no violations or accidents in the past 3 years
