Class 5 Donation Pickup Truck Driver — $19/hr + $1500 Signing Bonus

Our company collects used clothing and household goods across Canada to raise funds for Diabetes Canada. They're hiring a full-time driver in Dartmouth, NS to pick up donations from homes and donation bins and deliver them to partner organizations and storage sites.

Pay

• $19/hour

• $1500 signing bonus

• Monthly bonus available through the Top Drivers program

Schedule

• Full time, 40 hours per week

• Driving set routes each day

What you'll do

• Collect donated items from customers' homes and from charity donation bins, then drop them off at corporate partner sites and storage facilities

• Check in with dispatch at the start, middle and end of your route

• Do pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections

• Fill out daily paperwork, including Hours-of-Service logs

• Hand out a donation message card to each donor

• Load and unload items as directed, and return equipment to the office at day's end

• Flag any route issues to dispatch

• Represent the organization professionally and handle customer interactions, including occasional difficult situations, with a calm, service-oriented approach

Requirements

• Full Class 5 and/or G license or higher (passenger car or light truck)

• At least 5 years of driving experience at that license level, or 2 years with professional commercial driver training

• Clean driving record, less than 21 days old, with no violations or accidents in the past 3 years

• Grade 12 education or equivalent experience

• Comfortable lifting loads between 10 and 50 lbs

• Able to read maps and plan efficient pickup routes

• Strong communication and customer service skills, with good command of English

• Able to operate a 3-ton (16 foot) straight truck

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
