Class 5 Delivery Truck Driver

Our company in Truro, NS needs a delivery truck driver to bring building materials to homes and job sites. The role also includes warehouse and in-store work, and it can be physically demanding.

What you'll haul

• Building materials such as windows, doors, cement, shingles and other supplies

• Deliveries go to private residences and construction sites

What you'll do

• Load and unload product, and get trucks ready before loading

• Pitch in at the lumber yard, warehouse and sales floor, helping customers as needed

• Check your vehicle for proper upkeep and safety before and after runs

• Stay in touch with dispatch to sort out any problems that come up

• Double-check that loads are secure and correct

• Report any mechanical issues, rule violations, accidents or injuries

• Complete daily vehicle checklists and other required paperwork

• Follow company procedures and safety rules, acting professionally at all times

• Take on other tasks assigned by your manager

Requirements

• Valid Class 5 driver's license

• Previous experience driving for deliveries

• Able to lift as much as 55 lbs

• Comfortable working outdoors in any weather, in a fast-moving environment

• Reliable, punctual, self-driven, and focused on safety

• High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent

• Strong communication skills, spoken and written; being bilingual in English and French is a plus

• Basic ability with hand tools
