About this job
Our company in Winnipeg, MB is looking for a Class 1 truck driver to run freight between Winnipeg and British Columbia and Alberta. Both company drivers and owner operators are welcome to apply.
What you'll haul
- General freight on designated lanes connecting Winnipeg with BC and Alberta
What you'll do
- Pick up and deliver loads safely while following traffic laws and safety rules
- Load and unload cargo with a forklift or other equipment, securing it properly
- Check brakes, lights, tires and other systems before each trip
- Keep accurate records of deliveries, pickups and vehicle logs
- Handle minor mechanical repairs or troubleshooting to avoid delays
- Stay in contact with dispatch, warehouse staff and customers to keep schedules on track
- Help out with warehouse tasks like sorting freight and checking inventory when needed
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 license with a clean record
- Background running heavy trucks commercially
- Comfortable operating a forklift and other loading equipment
- Understanding of how to handle and secure freight safely
- Familiarity with basic vehicle repair is a plus
- Able to complete thorough pre-trip checks and solve mechanical problems on the fly
- Clear communicator who can work independently in a busy setting
