Class 1 Local Shunt Driver — Port, Dartmouth NS — From $25.00/hr

Our company in Dartmouth, NS needs a Class 1 driver for local shunt and short-haul work serving the HRM port locations. You'll move freight safely and reliably, with some hands-on vehicle care expected.

What you'll do

• Drive trucks to get freight where it needs to go, on schedule

• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections

• Load and unload cargo with care

• Keep accurate ELOG records of hours, mileage and fuel use

• Stay in touch with dispatch about schedules and any issues on the road

• Handle basic repairs and maintenance on the truck when needed

• Run forklifts or other heavy equipment for loading and unloading as required

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 licence

• 3 years of Canadian driving experience, including winter conditions, with references

• Clean driving abstract

• Solid grasp of safety rules and best practices for freight transport

• Container handling knowledge is preferred

• Basic truck or auto repair skills are a plus

• Forklift experience is helpful

• Prior port work is an asset
