About this job
Our company in Bakersfield, CA is looking for an OTR truck driver to haul freight across multiple routes using tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers and refrigerated trailers.
What you'll do
- Run over-the-road routes hauling a mix of equipment types, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers and reefers
- Plan routes with GPS tools to hit delivery windows
- Load, unload and secure cargo following proper safety practices
- Handle hazardous materials loads in line with FMCSA, DOT and hazmat rules when required
- Stay in touch with dispatch for schedule or route changes
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks to catch mechanical problems early
- Keep accurate logs covering hours of service, cargo paperwork and delivery records
Requirements
- Valid CDL with endorsements matching the equipment you'll run
- Background hauling freight over long distances, including route and delivery driving
- Comfort operating different trailer types, such as tankers, flatbeds, reefers and auto-hauling equipment
- Solid grasp of cargo handling rules, including hazardous materials
- Working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT and hazmat safety standards
- Manual transmission experience preferred
- Confidence using GPS navigation across different regions and OTR routes
