About this job
Dot Transportation (DTI) is hiring CDL-A drivers in Ocala, FL to haul product from Dot Foods suppliers to customers and distribution centers. You'll need to live within 50 miles of the Ocala terminal and be at least 21 years old.
Pay
Your paycheck is activity-based, not a flat rate, so it reflects the work you actually do each week. Weekly pay typically runs $1600-$2250 depending on your experience, job type, schedule and workload. First-year drivers with under 200,000 verifiable regional/OTR miles can earn up to $87,000 annually, while experienced drivers average $117,000+, with top performers earning even more. Actual earnings depend on your experience, route, schedule and business needs.
Your total pay can be built from several activities, depending on your route and role:
- Cents-per-mile pay for miles driven
- Pay for qualifying stops
- Pay for qualifying pickups
- $0.16 per case plus $0.37 per line item delivered
- Pay for qualifying drop-and-hook moves
- Other activity-based pay depending on your route and location
Home time
DTI builds regular home time into its schedules, aiming to get drivers home at least weekly. One option is a traditional schedule, typically out 5.5 days a week with a 34-hour reset at home. Exact schedules and home time depend on your location and the needs of the business, but DTI works to keep routes consistent and predictable.
What you'll haul
You'll run as a customer delivery specialist, with no-touch freight options available depending on the role. Work includes moving dry and temperature-controlled goods, with loading/unloading required for some positions (no-touch roles may reduce this). You'll also handle load paperwork, manage your route and delivery schedule, and watch fuel use, idle time and speed to keep operations efficient, all while following DOT and FMCSA rules.
Expect to drive in all kinds of weather, at any hour including weekends and holidays, sometimes on multi-day trips. You'll interact with customers, suppliers and distribution center staff during stops. Some physical effort is involved — lifting averages 14 pounds and can reach up to 60 pounds — combined with sitting, standing and moving through your shift; this varies by role.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL and a clean driving record, or the ability to earn your CDL-A through DTI's training program
- Able to obtain HazMat and Tanker endorsements
- Valid DOT medical card, or able to get one
- Able to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT)
- Able to communicate in English per FMCSA rules
- A safety-first, professional approach
- Either a diploma from an accredited CDL school with 140+ hours of training, or at least six months of CDL-A driving experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
No CDL yet? DTI offers paid training and tuition help to qualified candidates starting a driving career.
Benefits
- Competitive pay plus incentive and bonus opportunities
- Medical and dental coverage, 401(k) and profit-sharing
- Paid time off and holidays, based on eligibility
- Paid training and room for career growth
- Backup from in-house dispatch and maintenance teams
Benefits vary by role, status and tenure. DTI is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on legally protected characteristics.
