CDL-A OTR Truck Driver

Our company in Cresco, IA is looking for a CDL-A driver to haul loads over long distances. You'll handle a variety of freight and make sure it arrives safely and on time.

What you'll haul

• Tractor-trailer or one-ton truck towaway runs, typically long distance

• Company products, towaway units, general freight, machinery, vehicles, lumber, building materials and metal sheeting, loose or packaged

What you'll do

• Complete paperwork for every load

• Follow DOT rules and handle the truck safely in traffic and tough driving conditions

• Check your equipment before, during and after each trip, and report any issues to the Transportation Manager

• Keep accurate driver logs per DOT rules

• Secure your cargo to DOT standards, including using chains, straps, tarps and tiedowns, and hooking/unhooking trailers

• Help load and unload freight

• Get in and out of the cab repeatedly through the day, and squat, crouch and reach as needed to manage cargo

• Drive through extended stretches on the road and work in extreme heat or cold

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL

• At least 2 years of verified commercial driving experience

• Solid understanding of DOT and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

• Able to meet DOT medical and safety standards and pass drug/alcohol testing

• Clean background check: no accidents or moving violations in the last 3 years, and no DUI/DWI felony convictions in the last 5 years

• Comfortable reading maps and using GPS or other routing tools

• Strong, consistent focus on safety
