CDL-A Fuel Tanker Driver — Palmer, AK

Our company is looking for a Class A CDL driver to run a set route hauling fuel from load racks to retail and customer locations near Palmer, Alaska. You'll handle a commercial tanker, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and keep accurate HOS and ELD records.

What you'll do

• Operate a Class A commercial vehicle along an assigned route to pick up and deliver fuel safely and on schedule

• Check your truck for defects before, during and after each trip, and log duty status through the ELD system per DOT rules

• Handle extra tasks as needed, such as basic truck maintenance, washing vehicles, clearing snow and other yard or warehouse work

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience

• At least two years operating Class A equipment

• Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat (X) endorsement plus Doubles/Triples endorsement

• Must meet current Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations driver qualifications

• Valid medical card required

• Must be able to obtain a TWIC card

• Longer Combination Vehicle (LCV) certificate required, or obtainable during the introductory period

• Able to lift and move 50+ pounds

Nice to have

• Background hauling fuel

• Comfortable driving in winter weather

• Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Word, and tablet use for ELD, maintenance and hours-of-service logging

Schedule and location

• Hiring point is Palmer, Alaska; drivers living elsewhere cover their own travel costs to get there

• Hours are flexible based on operational needs and set by agreement between you and the company

• The work week starts on the first day of your scheduled assignment

• Overtime applies for hours worked beyond 8 in a day or 40 in a week

Working conditions

Expect a mix of office and outdoor work in hot and cold weather, with possible exposure to dust, odors, noise, and machinery. The job can involve crouching, climbing ladders, working in tight spaces, and periods at a computer.
