About this job
Our company is looking for a CDL-A delivery driver to run local routes out of Pensacola, FL, bringing food products to customers safely and on time. This is a 100% touch-freight role, so you'll handle loading, unloading and verifying every delivery yourself.
Pay
You're guaranteed a daily minimum of $300, with component-based pay built on factors like stops, miles and cases delivered.
Schedule and location
Shifts run Monday through Friday, starting between 3am and 4am, and you're dispatched until all orders are delivered. The route is based in Pensacola, FL 32506.
What you'll haul
You'll deliver foodservice products, unloading them by hand, two-wheeler or ramp and placing them in the correct storage areas at each stop. You'll also confirm deliveries with customers, collect signatures, and handle payments or collections where needed.
What the job involves
- Driving safely on highways and city streets, including backing into tight loading docks
- Unloading product and stocking it in designated spots
- Getting delivery confirmations and signatures from customers
- Representing the company well through solid customer service
- Doing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Managing payments or collections on applicable accounts
- Taking on other tasks as assigned
Expect physical demands throughout each shift: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or lowering loads from 20 to over 80 lbs repeatedly, making 10 or more stops per shift in all kinds of weather, and working in coolers as cold as 0 degrees. The job also calls for frequent bending, kneeling, reaching overhead, twisting, climbing and standing or walking for extended periods.
Requirements
- Must be 21 or older
- Valid Class A CDL from your state of residence, with required endorsements and DOT qualifications
- At least 6 months of commercial driving experience in any industry, or 3 months specifically in food or beverage delivery
- Able to drive a manual transmission is preferred, and may be mandatory depending on location
- Must read and speak English well enough to understand road signs, respond to official requests, and complete reports and records
- Registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is required by the Department of Transportation; you'll need to sign up on their website if you haven't already
Benefits
Coverage starts on day one. Offerings may include medical insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, short- and long-term disability, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
